PDLegal Acts In Major Corruption Case Involving Public Healthcare Tender

PDLegal LLC recently represented the lead accused in a prosecution brought by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB), involving corruption charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The case concerned gratification requests in connection with a major public healthcare IT procurement tender issued by Integrated Health Information Systems (IHIS), Singapore’s national health technology agency. The allegations also involved dealings with representatives from Huawei International and other vendors. Given the use of public funds and the importance of the public healthcare system, the matter was of significant public interest.

Our team, led by Mato Kotwani, Partner and Head of our Criminal Litigation Practice, successfully negotiated a plea agreement under which the Prosecution proceeded on a limited number of charges. In the round, we secured a favourable sentence in the circumstances. In both plea negotiations and before the Court, we emphasised our client’s limited role in the procurement process, the multiple safeguards within IHIS, and the absence of actual loss to the healthcare system.

At PDLegal, we are committed to delivering robust representation in cases of complexity and public importance.
